The old woman wears a gown and shoulder jacket with slips and hood. Accessory information: earrings, gloves, impeller, shoes with heels. In the background two men in a doorway. On the left a covered wagon, a preacher on horseback and a woman who hangs the laundry. This is the first print in a series of six and tells the story of Mary (or Moll) Hackabout, who arrives from the countryside in London and becomes a prostitute there. From the series A Harlott's Progress, by William Hogarth, 1732. The series also existed in the form of six paintings from 1731, which have been lost.
