After personally transferring the request for surrender of the Chinese to the Dutch commanders of Fort Zeelandia on Formosa, Hambroeck says goodbye to his daughters and returns to the Chinese pirates Coxinga, May 24, 1661. In October 1661 he was assassinated by the Chinese.
