The ship of the combative catholic church. Sailing ship representing the Roman church manned by all kinds of officials and parts of the Catholic Church. In a sloop behind the ship, the pope sits together with the secular supporters of the church. The ship is threatened from boats manned by heretics, unbelievers, apostates and sins. On the left the purpose of the canal: the port of redemption, the sky. In the air, the dove of the Holy Spirit propels the ship forward.
