Political allegory from 1578 with the Tree of Peace (Arbor Pacis) in the middle; at the top of the tree the coat of arms of Philip II in which a heart is set from heaven; in the branches there is left and right Love (Charitas) and Divine Order (Ordo Divinus), next to each an empty coat of arms. Together with the female personifications of the Trouw (Fiducia) and Concordia (Eendracht), they wear a cord on which the coats of arms of the seventeen Provinces hang. Fiducia violates Deception (Fallacia) and Concordia displaces Discordia. In the middle, on the ground lies an open Bible on which a sword. Behind the tree, angels chase away monsters and predators. In the caption four verses of 8 lines each in Dutch, Latin, French and German.
