The water pump from Zaltbommel before the Waterpoort from Gorinchem in the garden of the museum, 1902 Canvas Print
The water gate from Gorinchem was placed between the main building and the Fragmentengebouw in 1895. In 1902, the museum received this water pump from 1736 with a river god and a dolphin. Here the gentlemen in the photo place the pump in front of the gate, as evidenced by the overturned soil and the garden tools. Zaltbommel received the pump back in 1966 after a request from the municipality. Waterpoort from Gorinchem (placed in 1895 as a connection between the museum and the fragment building) with pump from Zaltbommel (placed in 1902) in the garden on the west side of the museum In 1895, the fragment building was linked to the main building by placing the Waterpoort from Gorkum and the Verbindingsgang. The fragments building 'owes its origin to many an act of vandalism, as one unfortunately still sees happening there every year ..... the collected building fragments formed such an extensive and extensive collection that it was indestructive to litter the Park with it, and the question arose whether it would not be possible and advantageous to place these buildings together in such a way that it put together a whole that could be used for the service of the Museum.' (The Stuers) The fragments building designed by P.J.H. Cuypers was put out to tender in 1885.
