Japanese soldiers pierce their two with spears, while the Japanese people and shogun Toyotomi Hideyoshi watch. From heaven, angels descend on to retrieve their souls. In the foreground on the right, a bishop who declares the 23 Christians martyrs. The print has several Latin and German inscriptions about the event and the subsequent beatification by Pope Urban VIII.
