Two labourers at rest, Esaias Boursse, 1662 Canvas Print
Outside on the ground is a man with his knees raised, his right arm resting on one knee. To his right is another man, also with his back to the artist. They both wear knee-length hip dress (veshti, lungi). Both men's hair was cut short. The lying man rests his head on a folded cloth. The draughtsman paid particular attention to the muscular back of the seated man. Given the men's clothing and hairstyle, they are probably from southern India or Jaffna and are employed in reconstruction in Colombo. Sheet 7 from a sketchbook with 117 sheets.
