An elegantly dressed lady sits in front of a fireplace, between a young man to whom she gives her heart and an old man, whom she holds glasses in front of. The young man receives the heart. The old man (the old couden hutselaer) is 'goggled', that is, deceived and is allowed to warm his cold hands to the fire. Gilles van Breen's print after Pieter de Jode, who served as an example to De Bry, he published himself, together with his brother Johan Israel.
