Depiction of the third interlude during the performance of girolamo Bargagli's play 'La Pellegrina': Apollo beating the python in front of a group of spectators in a forest. For the six intermezzi of Giovanni de'Bardi, the machines and costumes were designed by Bernardo Buontalenti. This performance was on the occasion of the marriage of Ferdinando I de'Medici and Christina of Lorraine in 1589.
