The battle of Terheide in the First English War between the State Fleet under Maarten Tromp and the English fleet under George Monck, 10 August 1653. At the top a portrait of M.H. Tromp in laurel wreath, with the inscription Praelium navale inter Belgos et Anglos, Ao 1653 on both sides. Next to the portrait angels. Maarten Tromp was killed in this battle. In the foreground the sinking English ship the Pellicaen. On the left the ship de Brederode van Tromp in fierce battle with that of Monck.
