Berkemeyer, anonymous, 1646 Canvas Print

Berkemeyer, anonymous, 1646 Canvas Print

Low, convical, foot spun from a wire. Deep untabbed soil. The trunk, which is occupied with two rows of large flat studs, is blown as a whole with the funnel-shaped calyx. A smooth thread indicates the transition from the trunk to the calyx. On the chalice is calledigraphed the saying 'Vincens Tui' (in translation: 'Overcome Yourself'), a butterfly, a cherry, a violet and a fly. The engraving is signed and bears the year on the trunk 'Anna Roemers 1646' and again under the foot 'An'.
