The men during the polar night in the Behouden Huys. An openwork image of the house, with a mountainous landscape and a starry sky outside. Several men in the back of the house in their cage, left a man in a steam room made of a large water barrel, most men around the fire. Above the fire hangs a cauldron and a fox is roasted. One of the men is ill and is wrapped in blankets with the fire. In the back left, a crew member points to the clock hanging there. To the right outside the door is one crew member with a halberd.
