Bridle of an oak mantelpiece, anonymous, c. 1650 Canvas Print
Oak bridle with architraaf, frieze and cornice. The frieze shows in low relief a continuous representation of putti, which rise from either side with offerings and garlands and while playing musical instruments to an altar in the middle, on which the sacrificial fire is ignited. The procession of rising putti starts on the sides, which are closed by hanging festoons (see BK-BR-308-2 &-3).
