Britse ridderorde (The Most Distinguished Order of St. Michael and St. George), ontvangen door Willem Drees, Ltd Garrard & Co, c. 1818 - before 1958 Canvas Print
Box covered in black leather, with on the outside of the lid the letters 'G.C.M.G.', in which the decorations of the Grand Cross (Knight Grand Cross) of the The Most Distinguished Order of St. Michael and St. George, United Kingdom, granted to Prime Minister W. Drees; the order was instituted in 1818, has as head the reigning monarch and is only granted to foreigners in very exceptional cases. The decorations consist of an order sign with shoulder strap and an order star. The order mark is a seven-arm, white enamelled gold star, which hangs from the crown of the empire. The middle medallion shows in several colors on one side the archangel Michael with flaming sword who tramples the devil, and has the inscription 'Auspicium melioris aevi' (A pledge for better times); the reverse side shows Saint George and the dragon and has the same inscription. The sign is connected with a ring to a blue shoulder strap with red stripes. The order star is a seven-armed, brilliantly occupied silver star with golden beams of rays between the arms, on which a red St George's Cross lies beneath the middle medallion, on which the archangel Michael with the same inscription in golden letters on a dark blue background as on the order sign lies. The box is lined with white side on the inside; the decorations lie on a purple velvet elevation, under which the strap is laid.
