Illustration of the events known as the cruelty of the bull, 1647. The farmer and his pregnant wife who were attacked by a bull in Zaandam on 29 August 1647. The pregnant woman is taken on the horns, where the child is thrown out of the abdomen. The print shows an interior in which the deadly injured farmer and farmer's woman lie. In the background, two scenes show the man and woman being attacked by the bull and how the bull is eventually killed. Below the performance a description of the events, different verses about the protagonists and a statement by the doctor concerned, in 6 columns. Reissue of the original print.
