Young man in a 'habit' of scarlet cloth. According to the accompanying text, the jacket is lined with white silk and large white buttons of mother-of-pearl are attached to it. The ends of the sleeves are opened 'à la Marinière' and closed with two of the same buttons on the side. Four buttons on the pockets of the jacket. Collar of the same fabric. Under the jacket a sea green cardigan of heavy silk ('Gros-de-Tour') with gold stripes; decorated with small white buttons. 'Culotte' or knee pants made of light lemon yellow cashmere, with a row of buttons at the bottom. White silk stockings. Shoes with silver shoe buckled. On the head a hat 'à l'Androsmane'. Walking stick of bamboo in hand. The print is part of the 14th Cahier from the series Cabinet des Modes ou les Modes Nouvelles. The series consists of 72 fashion prints, published by Buisson, Paris, November 15, 1785 - November 1, 1786.
