On the left is a soldier with a drawn sword. Above it, angels hold a medal with the portrait of Louis XIV. The scene is framed by six medallions, four of which depict the battles of the French monarch, interspersed with decorative weaponry and vegetation. At the bottom is a cartouche with the calendar of the year 1659. In October 1659, the Franco-Spanish war came to an end with the Peace of the Pyrenees.
