Candlestick in the form of Samson taming the lion, anonymous, c. 1850 - c. 1900 Canvas Print
The standing lion has accustomed the head to the left and back and the tail under its right hind leg around the buttocks. On his back is Samson, who has stretched his left leg forward and pulled his right foot backwards. With both his hands he pulls open the mouth of the lion. He wears a tunica with long sleeves that fall over his knees, which release the lower mourners reaching up to the wrists, zigzag striped stockings and pointy shoes. From his neck emerges the hexagonal profiled trunk, with the grease trap and the candle spider. The grease trap is worked out at the bottom like a five-bladed chalice.
