Capture of Paul in Jerusalem, Christopher of Shechem (II), 1740 Canvas Print
When the apostle Paul wants to enter the temple in Jerusalem, he is dragged to the ground by the Jews and beaten. Roman soldiers remove the rioters and arrest Paul. In the background, Paul addresses the Jewish mob shortly after his arrest. Here, however, the performance is used as an image of the popular uprising in Ephesus where two of Paul's Macedonian companions suffer. Above the performance a title. Among them are six lines of reference and a reference to Acts 19:23-29. The print is part of an album.
