Carpet with the coats of arms of Rogier de Beaufort, Turenne and De Comminges (fragment), anonymous, c. 1376 - c. 1378 Canvas Print
Fragment of a tapestry. On blue soil, in white, red, yellow, light and thunder brown and black, a pattern of diamond-shaped figures formed by four storks has been applied, alternatively with the beaks and legs turned towards each other. Within these diamonds is a capped castle with three towers, from the extremes of which winged angels rise who together hold a crown above the head of a deer, elephant or unicorn. Above the crown, in a five-leaved rose, the coat of arms of Turenne (banded of gold and throat) and of rogier de Beaufort (field of silver with six flowers of throat placed in a wreath and a slash of lazuur) is alternately arranged. The animals inside the wall carry a coat of arms tied at the neck and alternately quartered, 1 and 4 of Turenne, 2 and 3 of Rogier de Beaufort and shared 1 of Turenne and Rogier de Beaufort, 2 of Comminges (from throat with 4 to a star placed almonds of silver) laden with four shields of Turenne. These weapons can only belong to Guillaume Rogier de Beaufort, vicomte de Turenne et Seigneur D'Alais, who was married to Eléonore de Comminges. The shield of Turenne is wrongly made of gold and throat by the weaver; it was supposed to be from silver and throat.
