Cartoon on the departure of Jan Blanus, Jan Holswilder, 1885 Canvas Print
Jan Blanus was the pseudonym of Jan Cornelis de Vos, a co-founder of De Lantaarn. He is dressed as a clown, possibly a reference to the fact that he was also an actor. He holds his lantern near a snake that robs a money chest. As early as 1885, De Vos left the editorial board of the recently founded magazine. This print was published by De Lantaarn.
