Chair covered with satin parchment in red, white and black diamond motif, Carel Adolph Lion Cachet, c. 1905 - c. 1915 Canvas Print
Chair of coromandel wood resting on four legs. The front and hind legs are connected to each other by means of intermediate lines, which are connected to each other in the middle by a panel. The hind legs merge into the back pillars that are crowned by monkey heads. The backrest is open at the bottom and closed at the top. The closed part consists of a panel that protrudes in the middle at the top in a semicircular shape with openwork panels on both sides that connect the semicircular shape with the back pillars. The semicircular shape is glued along the inner edge with amboina root wood. Both the backrest and the seat are covered with satin parchment in red, white and black checkered motifs within a white border. The back of the back cover shows the letter H in the four corners, presumably the first letter of the name of the original owner.
