Chalice, anonymous, c. 1330 - c. 1350 Canvas Print
Ciborie, gilded, unadorned chalice. This is semi-ovoid and has a lid, which is crowned by an eagle, seated on a platform with battlements. The edge of the lid has trace work on a ground of blue translucent enamel and is trimmed by a platform of lion masks, interspersed with Gothic leaf shapes. The short, cylindrical trunk gradually merges into the round foot, which is surrounded in the same way as the lid with tracing and rests on three dragons with spread wings. At the bottom of the trunk a soldered medallion with the bust of Christ. In the lid is a closing plate for the button attachment, on which, in transparent enamel, a Salvator Mundi in green and purple rug on blue ground.
