Mantel clock cabinet, rectangular with beveled corners of oak, linden, beech and elm wood and veneered with walnut, olive, maple, yew, rosewood and mahogany, inlaid with Japanese and Chinese lacquerwork. The widening base, which is decorated with marquetry of rock formations, rests on later fore and hind legs, the forelimbs in the form of lacquered dragons. The high case has a round opening at the front for the dial and on both sides an oval opening, filled with a brass grille of feather-shaped C-volutes and leaf clocks around a rosette, behind which fine chicken wire. It is inlaid on all sides with Japanese and Chinese (partly painted over in the Netherlands) lacquer panels and is crowned by a cove decorated with lacquer above a tooth frame. The crowning has a maple veneered base on which a dome, made of a Japanese lacquered bowl, with false doors on both sides under gabled roofs, above which a gallery of entrelacs.
