The album contains 23 sheets of thick paper with a total of 53 taped photos, four of which are separate. Most sheets have English, French and Latin texts in red and black ink, especially spells from bible books; also drawings of crosses and crowns and cut-out images of decorations. The photographs are mainly portraits of Roman Catholic clergy who died during the Paris Commune, a revolutionary government that was in power from March to May 1871 and related images. The compiler may be an Englishman from London.
