The rose is of the same type as NG-MC-877-B, but the cap is provided with a gemstone, presumably agate with hole for the pin at the bottom: the turning of the rose was improved by the materials used, while the fluctuation was reduced by the propagation of the friction surface of the gemstone. The rose can be rotated within an outer edge, on which a scale is applied in degrees per quadrant; this was to compensate for the magnetic variation (the angle between the actual north and the magnetic north).
