Corner cupboard, anonymous, c. 1770 - c. 1780 Canvas Print

Corner cabinet made of oak, veneered with rose, purple, maple, satin and boxwood wood and other types of wood. The cabinet, which rests on two legs, has a corrugated front, topped by a scalloped arch and closed on the whirs' sides by a straight pilaster. It is made up of a lower and an upper cabinet, both with a semicircular, sloshing door. The door of the upper cabinet shows three boards on the inside of the scalloped shelves at the front; that of the base cabinet has one. The inside of the cabinet and of the doors is painted black and the shelves at the front gold. The door of the upper cabinet is decorated with marquetry of a medallion with fruits with a ribbon suspended from a ring from which also garlands of egg leaves hang, which are included in the corners with rings. The ribbon is wrapped with flower twiches, continued as a frame of the medallion. The door of the base cabinet shows a medallion with a vase, suspended from a tied ribbon and surrounded by flower twiches. The medallions are placed on quartered rosewood fields in a frame with encased corners with rosettes. On either side of the doors fields with illusionistic cube march; the pilasters are decorated with fields with cannelures. The crowning shows crossed palm branches on a long distance of illusionistic marquetry. The Netherlands, c. 1777.
