Countess Maria XXXII and counts Maximilian XXXIII, Philip XXXIV, Charles XXXV and Philip XXXVI, Hendrick Goltzius, 1596 - 1652 Canvas Print
Representation of one woman with shield and staff, and four men with sword and shield. According to the accompanying caption, these are Countess of Holland Maria XXXII and Counts of Holland Maximilian XXXIII, Philip XXXIV, Charles XXXV and Philip XXXVI (referred to as Mary of Burgundy, Maximilian I of Habsburg, Philip the Fair, Charles V of Habsburg and Philip II). This print is part of a series of eight numbered prints of the counts and countesses of Holland with accompanying explanatory Dutch texts in letterpress. Print and text are always attached to one sheet. Incidentally, of the years mentioned in the captions, little seems to be correct.
