Counts William XXVII and William XXVIII, Countess Jacoba XXIX and Counts Philip XXX and Charles XXXI, Hendrick Goltzius, 1596 - 1652 Canvas Print
Representation of one woman with shield and staff, and four men with sword and shield. According to the accompanying caption, these are counts of Holland William XXVII and William XXVIII, Countess of Holland Jacoba XXIX and Counts Philip XXX and Charles XXXI (referred to as William VI of Bavaria, John of Bavaria/John III, Jacoba of Bavaria, Philip the Good and Charles the Bold). This print is part of a series of eight numbered prints of the counts and countesses of Holland with accompanying explanatory Dutch texts in letterpress. Print and text are always attached to one sheet. Incidentally, of the years mentioned in the captions, little seems to be correct.
