Diaper basket depicting putti making music, Gerloff Brouwer (attributed to), 1660 Canvas Print
The rectangular basket with sloping walls rests on a foot edge and is reinforced at the bottom with an iron band. Flat rounded ears are attached to the short sides of the basket. The walls and ears are driven and partially sawn out with flowers and tendrils. A floating putto is displayed on each of the short sides. In the middle of the long sides, two putti keep a smooth shield within a frame of soft tissues. On the shield on the top edge is the name Eefferim V:Weelevelt engraved. The corners of the walls consist of soft, crackling-like ornaments. Around the wall runs a cable edge, surrounded by a motif of standing leaves. On the base plate are seven music-making putti driven into a room with stone walls and a floor of tiles, against a background of a suspended canvas behind which the tops of three semicircular windows can be seen.
