Don Quixote at the wedding of Kamacho, Pieter Langendijk (I), 1712 - 1714 Canvas Print
Surrounded by bystanders, Quiteria shakes hands with her groom Bazilius. Actually, the story was supposed to be the wedding of Quiteria and Kamacho, but that became that of Bazilius and Quiteria. Bazilius is wounded, next to him on the ground is the sword with which he stabbed himself out of heartbreak just before the wedding. His last wish was to marry Quiteria instead of Kamacho before he died. Behind the newlyweds is a priest who inzes the wedding. After the consecration, Bazilius gets up healthy and well again. On the far right, Don Quixote looks on in armor.
