Dutch ships near Bantam attacked by locals, ca. 1600, Dirk de Jong, 1784 Canvas Print
Dutch ships near Bantam attacked by the locals with bow and arrow in small boats, ca. 1600. This probably concerns the battles with Javanese in the bay of Bantam, during the First ShipVaert of Cornelis de Houtman to the East Indies in 1595-1597. Stored in the Frederik Muller collection as being (wrongly) an illustration of the naval battle for Bantam between the five Dutch ships of Admiral Wolfert Hermansz and the Portuguese fleet of thirty ships in the naval battle, 25-30 December 1601.
