According to the accompanying text (p. 296): 'A completely new English costume according to the London Fashion journal for Sept.' The woman wears a gown of plain white East Indian muslin with a mediocre drag. Straw hat 'à la Bohemienne' with lilac-colored ribbons and bound under the chin with a lilac-colored silk cloth. White satin cloak with lilac lining. White 'ombrette' (parasol) in the hand. The man wears a dark olive-colored coat with a collar in the same color. White cardigan of cotton batist (percale). Wide long pants of white Nankin. Round balloon hat(?) (top hat). According to the caption, these are morning costumes for September 1807.
