Epaulet, part of pair, for a captain of the mobile militia, ca. 1830-1832. The epaulet consists of a tongue of silver gallon, over which a sliding passer-by is mounted, consisting of an embroidery of silver thread and pailets, with a lining of dark blue sheet. This epaulet has an octagonal label affixed to the tongue, on which No. 133. (this label was no longer visible during the inspection in 2010) The leaf of the epaulet is provided with a more or less oval label on which the text is in ink: jonkheer Hoeufft. 1830-1832. captain militia 133. To the sheet hanging silver fringe. undersides are lined with red sheet, on which feed remains of paper labels with partly legible text: In the... street.... Heiligenweg... van den Broecke... makes and sells all kinds of military ornaments etc. etc. in Amsterdam.
