Exhibition of the Night Watch in the Rembrandt Room between 1926 and 1939, 1926 - 1939 Canvas Print

The western wall of the Rembrandt Room with a view of the Night Watch. In 1926 Schmidt-Degener had the painting brought back from the Rembrandt extension to the original Rembrandt room, where he placed it at some distance in front of the wall against a shot on an elevation. Between 1926 and 1939, the Night Watch hung on this western wall. On the right the passage to room C-248. In the foreground, two visitors view the Night Watch. Night watch room seen to the southwest. Rectangular room with circular masonry cove on a cornice, which opens up a glass skylight. In order to obtain the right incidence of light for the Night Watch, the Night Watch has been moved from the southern to the western wall and an opaque slab has been hung under the light duct. The raveel construction of the skylight consists of composite iron beams, which are supported by four marble columns with caryatids. The columns, the frieze, the cornice and the cow and the karyatids were provided with decorative paintings, but were whitewashed in 1925. On the right the passage to room 248.
