Façade with shepherdess, gods and equestrian statues, anonymous, 1689 Canvas Print
Façade with in the middle a standing shepherdess with panflute and staff. To her left and right are the gods Mars and Pallas Athena on pedestals between pilasters. Above that, Hercules carries the world on his shoulders. Equestrian statues of Louis XIV of France and Louis of France flank him. At the top are two women blowing on trumpets on either side of an award-winning coat of arms. The print is originally the title page for: Sanson, Nicolas, Atlas Nouveau Contenant Toutes les Parties du Monde (...), 1689. The title has been cut away and replaced by the shepherdess' print.
