Five plates from the floor slab of Gijsbert Willemsz. Raet te Gouda, anonymous, c. 1511 Canvas Print
The five slides are cast and have carved and engraved representations, which were originally fully or partially colored. The middle part consists of a triangle placed at a point, the sides of which are broken by curly brace arches. On the field, a harsh-footed angel is depicted against a vegetative background and with a halo around the head. With the help of belts he holds up two coats of arms. The right coat of arms is divided: 1. in red the Holy Sepulchre with above it a Jerusalem cross. 2. a Catherine wheel, cross-pierced with two swords. The left weapon: a kulk between two palm branches twisted towards each other. On the edge, the following text from the Vulgata derived from Job XVII, 12 and 13, is applied in minuscules: 'In tenebris stra vi lectulum meum Et rursum post tenebras spe ro lucem' (transl.: in darkness I have spread my bed and after darkness I expect light again). The upper curly braced arch is trimmed with highs. The four corner pieces have a circumference, which is made up of four curly braces, with leaf ornaments on four corners. The fields are occupied by the four Evangelist symbols; a kneeling angel with on the banderol in Gothic script: 'matheus'; a winged lion with 'marcs' on the banderol; a winged eagle with 'iohēs'; a winged bull with 'lucas'.
