Flint belt gun, Lambertus Michaelis Thone, 1790 - 1795 Canvas Print
This belt gun was probably from the State Fleet; part of a couple. The lock is the same as that of NG-2002-23-173; imitation of the French Model 1777; the lock plate bears a signature and is stamped on the inside with an M. The barrel is stamped on the back with the coat of arms of Amsterdam and on the bottom with the letters HH; the visor grain is yellow copper. The stock is simply cut; the recess for the tail of the barrel is stamped with a Broad Arrow mark. The yellow-copper fitting consists of a drawer belt, a loading stick sleeve, an unadorned thumbplate and the trigger bracket; an iron trigger plate and belt hook; the wooden loading stick is equipped with a yellow-copper hood.
