Folding fan, anonymous, c. 1800 - c. 1810 Canvas Print
Folding fan with green silk leaf on which palmettes, lovers and stacked classic motifs of gilded copper, on frame of black lacquered wood. The leaf is trimmed along the top edge with a strip of gold paper. On each segment between the legs, the fan from top to gangs is decorated with: three horizontally placed lovers, a picture in which bundled arrows are punched, three lovers. The 15th picture from the left is different from the rest. Below is a long, stacked ornament of volutes and acchantus crowned with flowers and ending in a point with a lover. Along the hand part, the leaf is decorated with a stacked ornament with spheres crowned with arrows between a lover at the top and bottom. However, the three middle ornaments differ and are made up of flowers. It is not clear whether this is original or a later change.
