Funeral procession of King William II, Gerhardus Fredericus Eilbracht, 1826 - 1833 Canvas Print
In the middle of the procession, the hearse drives, surrounded by figures and pulled by eight horses. In the foreground is a portrait bust of the king with 'Quatre-Bras' underneath, a reference to the Battle of Quatre-Bras on June 16, 1815, two days before the Battle of Waterloo. To the left of the bust is a veiled woman who receives a laurel wreath from a kneeling figure. To the right of the bust is a third figure, probably William III, the successor of King William II. He holds a sword to his chest, puts his left hand on a book, probably a Bible. On the left and right are large stones with the place names: 'Waterloo' and 'Hasselt'.
