Glyptothek, Königsplatz, Munich, Duitsland, anonymous, c. 1880 - c. 1910 Canvas Print
The Glyptothek is a museum of arachaic and classical art. It was built on Königsplatz by order of Crown Prince Louis, later King Louis I, and opened to the public in 1830. In front of the central hall is the vestibule with Ionic columns. Johann Martin von Wagner's tympananman group, located above it, presents Pallas Athena as the protector of the fine arts. On the left and right, statues can be seen in niches. After the destruction in WW II, the reopening followed in 1972.
