Allegorical performance in which the bourgeoisie of Haarlem begs the Prince of Orange for help, c. 1577-1579. The prince is addressed by the personifications of Haarlem Burgerij kneeling chained on the basis of Disaster (Calamitas). Above from left to right High Need, Desire, Public Interest (Tgemeelandt), Board (Officium) and Piety (Pietas). In the performance a banderol and cartouches with text as speech bubbles spoken by the characters. In the text of Haarlemse Burgerij reference is made to "a deflyke brandt int leste", which is the great fire of 1576.
