This city theatre was designed by Jacob van Campen and was built on the site of the Lower German Academy of Samuel Coster (at the current Keizersgracht 384). On December 26, 1637, it opened. In 1665 the building was extensively renovated and in 1772 it burned down. In the margin the title and a six-line verse in Dutch.
