Dutch mourning theatre, 1673. French cartoon with three representations about the attack on the Republic by the French and Episcopal armies in 1672. At the top is the Justice on throne between Louis XIV and the bishop of Munster watches as the French rooster eats the Dutch cheese while the Dutch Lion, handcuffed by an English dog, watches helplessly. The Dutch Virgin sits defeated in a chair and has dropped the bundle of arrows of the seven united provinces. On the left, the tudelite church enters Calvin and Luther, on the right the beggars preachers try to flee. Top the legend 1-13 in 9 lines in French. At the bottom of the legend 1-13 in 8 lines in Dutch. At the bottom two smaller prints. On the left the Dutch Sailor with a cheese in his hands and a candle in his rear. On the right, the Dutch Sailor is bitten by the English dog and French Rooster. With short inscriptions and captions.
