Hunting horn, anonymous, c. 1000 - c. 1099 Canvas Print

Two pairs of embossed transverse conveyor belts each contain a narrow, smooth section for a metal belt to attach a carrying strap. These bands are decorated with stylized, hurled leaf vines with fruits; this motif repeats itself four times at an equal distance between the inner transverse bands in the longitudinal direction of the horn. At the wide end in low relief: a hunting scene, consisting of a man, who holds open the mouth of a monster running towards him, assisted by a dog, which bites the animal in the chest. Behind the animal a tree with a lying monster, turning its head, and whose muzzle is held open by a man. Then a lying animal with its head turned upwards and an open mouth; behind it a standing lion and a tree. One man wears a tunic, the other also wears a shoulder-waving cloak, most animals have a band around the neck.
