Ebony side box, decorated with silver engraved plates on the side and front panels. The front can be folded down and hides three drawers. The inside is covered with light red silk. The inner part of the lid, also provided with a silver plate, can be slid to the right and hides a space covered with red silk and green velvet. The outside of the lid is equipped with a mirror. Four gods are depicted on the silver plates. They personify the four seasons: Venus (spring), Ceres (summer), Bacchus (autumn) and Aeolus, ruler of the winds (Winter). The representations are taken from engravings by Crispijn van de Passe I (1564-1637) (Franken nr. 955; 1147-1149).
