According to the accompanying text, the man is wearing a wine-red 'habit' of sheet, with a blue collar on a cardigan and yellow silk knee trousers. Wrinkled jabot and cuffs. White stockings and black boots. Hat with kokarde in hand. The woman, seen half-on the back, is dressed in a gown 'à l'Angloise' of sky blue tafsides, trimmed with a white falbala. Below is a skirt (jupe) of white linen, embroidered at the hem with garlands and flowers. Accessories: top hat with kokarde, steel bracelets as cuffs, fan, red shoes. The print is part of the 12th cahier, 1st année, of the fashion magazine Journal de la Mode et du Goût ou amusemens du salon et de la toilette, Paris, 25 February 1790-1 April 1793.
