Jug with putti in a Bacchanalian procession, Pierre Raymond (attributed to), c. 1550 Canvas Print
Copper jug, decorated with representation of enamel in grisaille against a black background. The wide foot passes into a narrow, high trunk. It depicts palm leaves and busts of putti. Above it is placed the body, which is divided into three bands separated by thick, round edges with gold leaf. Garlands are depicted on the lower band; the middle one shows several putti with fruits and musical instruments, with the inscription BAQVS above it. The middle putto sits like Bacchus on a small wagon with the monogram P.R. The upper band shows on one side a bathing Diana with her nymphs, which is spied by Acteaon with deer head; the other side shows a hunting scene with men on horseback and dogs, attacking Acteaon with deer head. The spout flat from above is decorated with leaf motifs in grisaille. The S-shaped ear is plated.
