The candlesticks (BK-NM-12502 and BK-NM-12503) consist of a candlestick and an attachment with three hinged arms. The profiled, rejuvenating foot is octagonal in cross-section, with alternately straight and corrugated sides. In the flat upper side there is a round floor from which the also round, constricted, ring-articulated upper part of the foot rises. On it rests the baluster-shaped trunk, standing on a widened spherical-walled base. The trunk is also octagonal; the alternately straight and curved sides correspond to those of the foot. The vase-shaped, profiled candle holder is again round in diameter. The constricted body of this is articulated by a ring. In the candle holder fits the attachment, which consists of a hexagonal core that alternately has straight and corrugated sides, and three arms that are connected to the straight sides of the core by hinges. The profiled core, which first widens and then rejuvenates, rests on a round, constricted base and is crowned by an equally round, multi-profiled button with a bell-shaped closure. The arms made up of two C-volutes are square in cross-section. They are articulated by profiles and decorated with curling, stylized leaf colonies. They carry large grease traps with a raised edge, decorated with an imposed profile edge, above which the profiled, vase-shaped candle holders rise, the constricted body of which is articulated by a ring. On the top of the foot is a three-master at sea engraved under the monogrammed GWC, for the Generale Westindische Compagnie. Along the lower edge of the foot is the engraved inscription: The Generale geoctroijeerde West Indische Compagnie has done this Present to Mr. Capiteyn Cornelis Schrijver, for his Frequent Occupasien and services done to deselve in den Jare 1737 beweese.
