Leather travel case of Johan Rudolf Thorbecke, , 1810 - 1850 Canvas Print
High square case of leather with wooden frame and fabrics and paper interior. The leather is soberly processed. The lid is hinged and lockable with a lock. On either side there are two leather handles of which the upper one is worn away. Everywhere, especially on the lid, there are remnants of address and shipping stickers. In the middle of it is somewhere 'Minister Thorbecke' in handwriting. He was thought to have used on his travels through Germany in the period 1822-1833 and on later voyages.
